Science and Technology
From fundamental technology firsts such as the steam engine, the
jet engine and radar, to key strengths in gene mapping, pharmaceuticals
and aerospace, the UK has been, and remains, at the forefront of
scientific endeavour.
With just 1% of the world’s population, the UK funds 4.5%
of the world’s science research, produces 8% of the scientific
papers, and receives 9% of the citations.
Based in the British High Commission in Ottawa, the Science &
Technology section promotes links of all kinds between science and
technology providers and users in the UK and Canada.
